So has anyone been there recently. According to the NP website there are two 4wd treks in the
park. Are they anygood? Worth the money?
Are there other 4wd trips in the
Walcha area that are worth doing? I don't particularly want a do or die 4wd adventure where you just turn around at the end and come back. Some decent 4wd work with a nice
lookout or picinic spot at the end where we can light a fire and do some cooking before returning to our digs in
Walcha for the night would be good.
Thanks already because I know someone will have some good answers to this question.

A lot of that area is now locked up. We have done several trips deep into the area only to turn around at
locked gate.
Off the road from Armidale to Kempsey via the Styx river there is a steep descent down into the Styx river past old mines. Handle no problem with care. A bit like Victorian high country tracks. The river is great and camps available along the river. If it rains while you are down there you may have to wait for the road to dry unless you love lots of winching.
Great
camp at old forestry hut near the Styx river (on the main Kempsey rd)

I should have added that I am talking about the area which borders the
park to the north
