Occassionally door locks will unlock, key operated only not remote locking, happens hot or cold conditions, short/long driving.
Seems to operate better if locking rear door with key but still occurs.
Always have checked that all doors/windows closed before locking with key.
Have contacted Toyota, problem somewhere they say, bring it in & we will have a look, how much $$$ I say, get the impression from them how deep are my pockets.
I would think a Prado nearly 10 yrs old should have all its quirks worked out by now.
But I am not knocking the Prado, leaves the rest for dead even though the brakes are iffy.

Hi Bob & Judy,
Don't own a Prado but had the same issue with the Discovery (99 model).
Problem related to the little battery in the remote unit. Replaced it and everything is A OK now.
Might be worth checking yours. Checking usually means replace with a new battery.
My owners handbook had instructions, check if yours does and go for it.
The battery was not too expensive for the Disco (under $20.00) but have no idea re toyota ones.

Cheers

Disco.

Disco,
I nearly did the same - was typing a reply suggesting Bob raise the aerial in the control box, until it dawned on me.......

I also have no other bright suggestions.

Hi Disco,
Thanks for your reply anyway.
To my way of thinking the problem is not with any of the 5 doors but with whatever sends the power to the door locks. Sometimes when on the road all the locks keep clicking on & off, checked the manual central switch on drivers side door, seems ok.
Regards Bob & Judy

Hi Bob & Judy cant comment on the central lock, I have had a remote added since buying it so dont have to use the key but dont have a problem either way. Just wondering you say your brakes are iffy ?? My'n just about throw you through the windscreen if you hit them hard enough untill the ABS cuts in. Not sure if there is any known problem with them but might pay you to get them checked out. There are plenty of people in the 4wd club Ive just joined with my model prado, never heard anyone complain of dodgy brakes. Just a thought for your safety thats all. Regards Steve M

Hi Steve M,
Brakes definately stop ok if you stand on them, problem is brake pedal travel, been to Toyota for brake service, new pads etc mentioned brake travel to them, they said seems ok. I like to just touch the pedal & feel brakes coming on instead of applying considerable pedal travel. The Missus's Pulsar you only have put your foot on the pedal & get an instant response.Maybe I am too fussy!

Yeah Im fussy too. My pedal probably goes about 1/4 of its travel so know what you mean I would say thats just the way they all are. My wifes new Toyota must be like your pulsar just rest your foot on the pedal and you can feel them starting to bite. All good thats the main thing. Rgards Steve M

I had a similar problem with my 98 prado gxl.
It was occurring if I used the key in the rear door.
So now I don't use the key in the rear door and therefore no problem.
Sounds like yours is a little different though.
I have not bothered to investigate mine further, though it was a little disturbing to see the vehicle unlock itself after you had walked away from it.

I have a 02 Prado and the remote is playing up when it's cold. Me thinks the battery is dying.
