Dear EO friends,
We are making our way to Warraweena EO National Meeting in early July. One of our stops is intended to be Goobang NP near
Parkes, has anyone recently visited Goobang.

Visited Goobang NP (North Section) in late Oct 06 doing the reverse trip to that described in thread # 22125.
Totally agree with the previous comments though I would add that on a fine day it is worth driving up to the
Trig point, actually just past to where the track ends then it’s a short walk to the viewing platform, for a great view out over the western plains. The
Trig point is closer to the Wanda Wandong
camping area near the start/end (depends on your route) of the steep section. The
park has good signposting and information boards.
Very easy drive through the
park, except for that steep section of loose rocks, but that is no problem with 4WD. The many changes in vegetation along the drive through the
park is quite noticeable.
Just near the Greenbah
camping area there is a walk up the
hill to view the western plains, however the track is not very
well defined and the view from near the
Trig point is better.
Great
park well worth a visit.

I was there last, May, really nothing there that i could see, its badly signposted to find your way in,
toilets are there, not much else. We stayed there mainly so we could see the telescope and other interests around the area.. Its quite a drive in off the road, down a narrow rocky track along a fenceline. I didnt find the place appealing Dont try getting there in the late afternoon, you will never find the place. Michael
