rbt
ive just done the Mundubbera to Gayndah to Hivesville dirt-run in a very capable but old 4x4 Van.
here is the results...
Value - ABSOLUTLY EXCITINGLY PRICELSS
View - Bees
Gate. beautiful long-long valley
views with the tree lined Burnett winding down to you.
Sections -
Mundubbera to Gayndah along the
Burnett river dirt track - Some of the tops of the road have fresh tar making some sections less treachourous but the steep cornered 14% declines are still really scary.
Gayndah to Hivesville - Kangaroos and wallabies EVRYWHERE. Stock too!
Misc -
4x4 - most of the way for safety
Time took - didnt care, took care
Fuel Economy - better than the highway
Local rock-spiders - plenty on uhf
Corrugations - the odd smatterring with one or two 1-2 klm sections..
Value - ABSOLUTLY EXCITINGLY PRICELSS, i am still buzzing from the adventure of been able to avoid big sections of the National highway AND been able to travel at an economical speed......
Caravaners stay away, it is deadly-dangerous
4x4 Camper-Trailors - Go slow plus have worlds most patience and then some... and then remember I said not to!
ok, gota turn Gennie off now..

hi rbt, been meaning to try the Mundubbera to Gayndah part for awhile, hate the winding hi way between them both. Do you know if you can
camp any where along the Burnett? and which is the worst track to tow a camper trailer along?
Cheers Bruce.

your in for a long slow trip with a C/T .. and I really mean it - move at about 15k's for the corner approachs and then your still going to dirt on the cambers and slope - good luc, im crazy but i would not take a C/t, but then i nver hasone...
- if you wont fruit-pick for them they dont want you in the aeea it seems ......... no
camping in that spot along that particular stretch of the river, pleanty within 80k's tho'
