Just when I thought had every thing sorted, apart from a few minor details a spanner gets tossed in and now a major re jig is required AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
All's fine to the SA meet but instead of (18 days) heading back to
Innamincka, Nuccundra,
Hungerford,
Eulo,
St George to
Brisbane It looks like I now have to head to Shepparton (Victoria), then
Brisbane.
So it looks like I will be leaving the meet 10 - 11th as I need to be in Shepparton by the 15th and from there stay till the 18th and take 10 days to get back to Bris.
So people some help is asked for ........ best or scenic route from Flinders Range to Shepparton and what is worth seeing on the way. I will have to sit down tonight and worth a path out albeit does not seem like a lot of time to site see (4 days) (bugger). I don't even know how far it is from Flinders to Shep guess I will by tonight lol.
As for Shep to Bris this is another I will have to work out. I know there is plenty to see but what is worth a visit I guess I will head up via
Parkes.
Damn MURPHY only parted for a day or so lol ....... typical.

shouldn't be more then 16 hours. We are expecting that from SW vic, it should be similar. If you like canned food SPC Ardmona is at Maroopna just out of shep. You can get some good discounts on pears and baked beans at times.

Brian the trip from the Flinders to Shepparton can be done comfortably in 2 days.
The usual route I take from
Hawker is south to
Carrieton,
Orroroo then Peterbourogh. Worth a stop here to look at the rail history. Down then to
Burra which is a nice tourist town centred around the old
mine & historic buildings. The road is now fully sealed to
Morgan, the scenic route via the car ferry (free) across to Waikerie. East to
Berri &
Renmark with plenty happening along the
Murray river here. Stop next at
Mildura where they have an excellent tourist centre to get information on Victoria.
Most direct route is through NSW to Euston then over the new bridge to
Robinvale. Plenty of opportunity to pick up cheap fruit & veg from road side stalls. Following the Murray Valley Highway there are numerous
camp sites along the river through Swanhill to
Echuca. Lots of history here centred around the warlf & paddle steamers. As mentioned Mooroopna has cheap tin food at Ardmona/SPC worth stocking up.
Then there's option 2 cutting across the Barrier Highway from spending a full day in
Broken Hill looking at the
mine, history & art. South east then to
Menindee &
Mungo National park,
Balranald Swanhill etc... This route is a bit more barren with less to look at en route but
Broken Hill is
well worth the look.
Four days will give you plenty of time to stop regularly & look around.
Cheers Craig...........

Brian, if you are interested in going through
Broken Hill, there is quite a good drive going from
Hawker to
Yunta through Baratta.
The road starts about 8kms out of
Hawker on the
Hawker Wilpena road to Warcowie , Holowilena and Baratta. It comes out on the
Yunta -
Arkaroola road a bit north of
Waukaringa.
Quite a good drive with a lot of varied scenery. About 4 hours if I remember right.
From
Broken Hill you can go out through
Menindee - Ivanhoe or down to
Mildura.
MM me if you want more info.

Thanks for the replies however at this stage I think my first draft (lol) is Warraweena -
Peterborough -
Burra - Waikerie -
Pinnaroo -
Swan Hill - Kerang -
Echuca - Shep. Approx 1200 klms
I was going to do the tourist run from Warraweena to Petersborough and take a couple of days (depends on whats happening at the meet) closer to the Range area.
Basiclly just cruise along will have to do some searching to find interesting things. On this run what is worth checking out.
I am not really worried about Echucia - Shep areas as all my rellies live there and have been there a few times. Just getting there is what I'm after:) and yes the fruit is great to buy down there and will be doing just that :)
Any advise on detours etc would be great. Don't think I will head towards
Broken Hill this time around.
