We have a Uniden
UHF radio (model uh012sx) and wish to mount it in a Prado GXL (120 series) below the ashtray. Can this be done? If not any other suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks in advance.

John'n'Min,
I have a 120 Prado and I have mounted my UHF on one side under the front
seat and 27 meg under the other front
seat and have no problem hearing every word from other vehicles.
Cheers Pete

search the archives here as there have been a few posts on this .. also look at Lcool & Pradopoint. I have a GME TX4400 with the head unit mounted under the ashtray & the main unit under the glovebox with the speaker facing outwards with a few holes drilled in the plastic panel. works fine although i understand there are a number of mounting options available on 120's

Drew T,
I had searched the archives but didn't come up with anything useful. Thanks to your good memory I tried again and as a result have improved my search skills immeasurably.

I have a 95 series so note sure that this will apply.
I bolted
mine to the ashtray and then to stop the ashtray sliding backwards, screwed a short piece of aluminium flat bar across under the dash up against the CB mount. It works very
well and is in the best position possible in the 95 series at least.
You can't see the flat bar so looks like a professional job and if I ever have to remove it will just have a few holes in the bottom of the ashtray and under the plastic dash out of site.
