What do the Truckies use to clean the aluminium checker plate on their trucks?, I have used CT18 Truck wash but the hand marks are still visible even after a good scrub. Any suggestions

I find the best is a pre-soak with HOT soapy water (dishwashing liquid) and then a high pressure gerni. Don`t be scared to get in real close with the gun.

There is a product called Alu-brite, which is made by the same Co that makes the CT18 truck wash.

It is applied the same way as the CT18, wait 10 mins or so, then hose off. It is mild acidic, and removes the oxidisation from the aluminium.

It works really well.
No affiliation, just a good product

Wanna do it easy and get a great shine???????
PURPLE Polish,,,,found at B.P. truckstops around the country. Easy to use and gives good long lasting shine to alloy tanks and barwork.
I use it on my prime-mover twice a year.

OK So now we know how to shine the Aluminium up nice and shiny, but how do we keep it that way? I presume we need to stop the oxidisation from happening so what's the secret to do this? Some sort of sealer or what?

not as far as I know- just got keep on to it with the polish... Austosol is good for re-polishing polished aluminium, and I believe leaves a bit of a film, meaning if the metal is kept clean, re-polishing will be less regular. But the more you let it go, the harder the work to get it back.

3 of the best alloy polishing products on the market are;

Autosol

Goddards Glow

Silvo, from the same mob that makes Brasso

Also WD40 will clean alloy.
