2000 Paj's have all the same problems as any make. Don't tow heavy with fifth gear. As for LPG, usually the motor needs hardened valves and seats, but if it has quite a few K's on the motor the valves etc will have already hardened themselves.
Even if the gas does bugger the heads, this will usually take over a 100,000 K's from time of fitting, with the price of replacement of the heads and the fact that you get the LPG subs from Johnnie its still viable
As for the Timing Belt not currently sure of cost in replacing and it depends on your ability as to whether its a home job or not.

The only dramas I have had is from lack of servicing. They will sludge up and block the oil pick up if not serviced regularly. They get a minor oil leak at the back of the heads but this is cheap to fix as they are only o rings to replace.
The front diff actuator has a tendancy to break off as its only plastic.
Check the oil level as they can burn oil.
Idle stepper motors are a problem in all Mitsubishi V6 engines.

They are generally a very reliable vehicle.

As for the timing belt, it has the same running gear as the earlier Paj's so it depends if it is a DOHC or a SOHC. Obviously the double overhead cam is more expensive to do. They are complicated but not out of reach of somebody with a bit of knowledge. Alot of workshops don't touch them, I don't know why. I think it is that there is no room for error and a few little tricks to set them up always helps as well as the special tensioner tool.
