What are the options to connect a Reversing camera on a van , to the monitor in car.

Asked this indirectly on another thread and the camera system is a Waeco.

Thanks

Would any of these www.narva.com.au/Terminals_10.html do the job?

Hi,

I fitted a Waeco camera on the back of my Prado and also on the back of the fibre glass caravan. I used Amphenol 6 pole plug and socket between vehicle and van. These are IP67 rated. I also purchased waterproof screw on caps for when not connected up. Jaycar sell these connectors. I cut the Waeco supplied cable at the appropriate point and soldered in the connectors.

I have just installed a 2-DIN sized DVD/TV/Radio/Reverse Camera Monitor in my 120 - fits like a glove. It goes right where the OEM crappy radio was.

For best picture quality you need to use a coaxial connector for the video lead.

BNC connectors are waterproof IF CORRECTLY ASSEMBLED. They have a firm bayonet lock and will not come apart. They are the only coax connector I will use outdoors without needing any sealing.

Thanks Vegandingo and Mike DDD,
V that unit sounds interesting but I have bought the Waeco and probably need the radio anyway.
Was there any other spot you could have selected to put the monitor?
Mike, looks like a trip to Jaycar and I need to check out Narva products too.

Sacred Cow just in case you missed my earlier request where did you mount your unit and any pics?

Thanks Derek,
Interesting site for both camera and monitor.
Do you sell the car to trailer connector separately, and is it waterproof? Send me a personal message please.

A photo from Pradopoint site shows a good spot for mounting monitor in a Prado

Derek - can the kit that is shown be supplied without the monitor? I already have a Lilliput 8" touch screen that I use for moving map with the laptop which I want to utilise.

No, they are complete kits. You would need to cut the monitor output cable and splice in a a/v out connector for your screen.
