Greg
Gidday All,
Planning to go from Alice to
Charleville in early August. Will be travelling via
Boulia on the Plenty/Donohue Hwy.
Has anyone got any recent updates or tips.
Vehicle is a Hilux T/D '03
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
Greg

If it doesn't rain much between now and then you'll have no worries. Don't speed and let the tyres down a bit. You can break the journey with an overnighter at Jervois or Tobermary. That route is renowned for doing tyres, so be prepared.
There are usually roadworks around somewhere also.
Have a great journey.

Hi Greg
We were on the plenty HWY approx 3 weeks ago and it was good condition. We were towing a offroad caravan and had lowered tyre pressures and suffered no problems.
We went from
alice springs to
Tobermorey station which was a nice spot to
camp and then onto
Boulia the next day.
Charleville is also a nice town but book the Bailey Bar van
park in advance as it fills up quick - nice van
park it is to.
cheers

Hi Greg,
we went across in the reverse direction to you in mid-April, just after the rains. It was rough in
places, but they've undoubtedly had the grader over them since then. Lowered tyre pressures make for a more comfortable and less jarring trip for you and your vehicle. We stayed at Tobermorey overnight where petrol was $1.75. Not bad, if you don't mind the gennies running all night!!MPG:4!
