We hope to do the
Canning Stock Route leaving
Melbourne on the 21st July and going north to south from Billiluna approx. 25th July. We have a Gu td 3lt patrol and a
Kimberley Kamper[2 adults]. Just wondering if there is anyone out there doing similar and would like some company?

Four days from
Melbourne? You will be pushing it!!
No doubt you have done your research but I wish to advise that a North/South trek is much harder than the opposite and you will find out why by the time you get to
Well 43.
Please drop your tyre pressures to at least 18 psi on the GU and around 15 psi on the trailer. If you struggle to get over the dunes then drop them down even further.
Enjoy! It is a great drive
Cheers

We will be leaving 14th July and heading up the CSR from the south so we might meet you along the track at some stage. There will be three cars in our party-2 Patrols and 1 Disco. No trailers-we figured it better to leave them home this time.

Hi Peter,
I'm gonna be a bit of a tyre kicker here but I'm heading up to
Broome around the 14th July to do the GRR.... I had thought about doing the CSR oneday... I've got a 2000 petrol hilux 4wd with most spares and 6 jerrys... On the road they give me a 1300km - 1500km range... I'd be interested to tag along but was wondering what would be required... or if you'd mind a tag along?
Cheers, Will.

Will,
We'll be leaving
Wiluna after the 24/25th. Have a look at the CSR Trek Notes and work out if you're ready to tackle the CSR at this stage. We've been planning since comeing back from th Cape last August. You'll need around 1000k range over
the desert and this will be much higher consumption than on the road. We've arranged a fuel drop at
Well 23 as
well and we're planning 3 weeks from
Wiluna to
Halls Creek.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the reply.
The CSR is a big committment and the Kimberleys are more important to me.
As I said, i was going to be a bit of a tyre kicker - so I won't go... this time at least.
I'd love to hear about how your trip went - know doubt you'll post it up as I will for the GRR.
Just out of curosity what are you taking for supplies and spares and how many?
Cheers, Will.

OK Will. We all have two spares - in my case using a Kaymar rear bar. We carry 240l diesel, 100l
water and food for 3+ weeks. Have the rear seats removed and front and rear cargo barriers. Bedding and oztent on the roof rack. We've tried to keep weight down and the Patrol sits nicely. We've also got
HF radio, satphone and epirb as
well as uhf. Taking hoses, belts filters just in case. Send me your details and we'll get together when home and tell you all about it. Make sure you go up to
Kalumburu and
Mitchell Falls. And do the helicopter ride out from the falls.
Cheers

Peter,
I'll keep an eye out for 2 Patrols and a Disco. We're fairly flexible (uncertain :-))) as to where we'll be at what dates, so it could be anywhere.
Cheers
