Does anyone know if it would be possible to ride a mountain bike from
Dargo to
Omeo. We're planning to ride from
Melbourne to
Falls Creek via
Omeo, (not during snow season!) over a period of 5 or 6 days. To make the trip a little more interesting we thought a little off road touring would be the go. Also info on the road between Briagalong & Cobbannah would be appreciated.
thanks
ian

Ian,
Freestone
Creek Rd/Tk is in pretty good nick at the moment having been cleared after the fires. It gets a few trees down with a good storm through the area but on bikes this wouldn't be a problem.
There are a few good
camping spots along this road. The road surface is a combination of dirt and gravel although the gravel isn't loose.

The climb up Mt Birregun from
Dargo would certainly be a big haul on a push bike although the road surface is fine. (2WDish) Accross the top past the Dogs Grave & down into
Omeo would certainy be a nice ride.
Cheers Craig.........
