Evening all,
I was just wondering where (and how much??) I would be able to get a set of CAT Diesel mudflaps for the rear of the GU on the Brisbane Northside - Bayside area.

Before anyone says it; its for a 2.8TD hence compensation purposes only.

Cheers Big Ears's

I got my CAT flaps off ebay. They are not the 600mm wide ones, only about 300mm wide. I would have preferred CHEV flaps, but haven't been able to locate any, so CAT will have to do.

Genuine CAT ones most probably are expensive.
Last time I worked at a CAT dealer on the 776 haulers, they were charging over $20.00 for a 1" UNC bolt x 3" long, with the CAT logo stamped on the head of course.
Asked why, evidently air freighted in from the states with their usual supply of small parts.

Did a tour of the Cat parts warehouse in Melbourne (Tullamarine) a few years ago, the whole joint, (massive huge warehouse) was airconditioned and heated in winter.

Hate to think what the bill for that would be. In part, that would explain the $20.
At least it was a nice comfortable bolt :-)

Sorry to spoil the story, 1" x 3" unc grade 8 bolt will set you back $6.24 inc gst
Part number 1D4709.
Mud flaps start around the $15.00 mark for a ute size and go up from there.
Gotta love pub rumours :)

Cheers and Beers

Thanks Diesel Power,

I was doing some work on some of the big haulers here in Brisbane , upgrading the fuel tanks from 1000l to 3000l. Had to use standard CAT parts where possible, so I was down at the stores checking what they had. That was the price out of the manual. Maybe some local markup involved?

Maybe they have since revised the price list. Might be selling a few more of them now. Was always an issue with warranty, genuine CAT parts to be used, including bolts. :o)

CAT make some good gear though.

Mainly doing diesel generator installations now.

Appreciated the responses; will try EBay and the white pages for the CAT Dealer.

:) Who said Redneck, I was personally leaning more towards urban cowboy but I may have to reconsider this.

Legend, will have a geezer there tomorrow. The sets on Ebay (300w x 450mm) were currently $40.00 with 8 1/2 hours to go. Would be nice to know how much they are RRP before using the plastic fantastic.
