Deepest was the Pascoe going down to Chilli Beach....others were deep holes but on the average not to bad....did not have to use my custom made blind once......was really impressed and happy with my GU 3lt Patrol...did not over kill some of the roads but felt more confident as the trip went on......OTL is a godsend, the ByPass roads are a shocker, got a stress headache from the corrugations....have never experienced as bad..

rlby,Good to know you did 9000 k's in 30 days.

I am leaving Melb 15th May for Cape and must be back by last week in June, is this long enough?

You did not say what your departure point was to do your trip in just over 30 days.
I am going via Mildura, Menindee, Wicania and on up to Cloncurry and Normanton and then back down the East Coast........any sugesstions??

Thanks Graham.......DOING IT! LOVING IT!

We left from Newcastle and went up through back, Roma etc.....your time period should be definitely long enough....was talking to some blokes in Weipa and they had come up through Normanton and they said road was very bad,,,heavily rutted....but we were surprised what only a couple of weeks did to road and creek and river conditions,,,,big creeks were only puddles on our way back down...any suggestions''''''wellllllll....at risk of being howled down....Archer River Hamburger at eight bucks was a big let down...and take your own grog to Punsand

No did not attempt the Creb...very wet still when we went up........and Frenchmens was also still out...took us 5 hours to get into Chilli and it was blowing a hot gale and was afraid we were going to be killed by wayward coconuts....Ranger said we were the first tourists for the season

I'm starting to get itchy feet already again , some great spots for you and the family to stay....Archer River or any of the Falls..Twin, Elliot,Fruit Bat will be much better for the kids...safe swimming....no crocs or big bities...even the pool at Punsan was a blessing....try and get out to Somerset and see the graves and read the history of Jardine...they must have been great men to take on the country and everything it threw at them...Hope you all enjoy the trip...
