I have just read on the Birding Aus website a message from Don and Liane Haddon that the Gibb River Road has been closed due to unseasonal and steady rain. A commercial tour vehicle is hopelessly bogged on the track to Manning Gorge and the tracks to Bell Gorge and Windjana Gorge are also closed.
Drysdale Station on the Kalumburu road is out of fuel and heavy road trains will not be allowed up these roads even after they are opened to light vehicles.
Road info is supplied on the mains roads website.
This info can be read under the heading of To Black Grasswren seekers.
Hope this info is helpfull.
Kind regards from Col.

The best way to read the original message is to search, birding aus archives and then click on the top date and you can then see Don's message.

GIBB RIVER ROAD – 4wd vehicles recommended
• End of Seal (Derby end) to Lennard River - CLOSED to all vehicles over 7 tonne
• Lennard River to Wyndham turnoff - CLOSED TO ALL VEHICLES
EXTREME CAUTION ADVISED DUE TO WATER OVER ROAD, FLOODWAYS/CREEK CROSSINGS AND SLIPPERY AND UNPREDICTABLE ROAD CONDITIONS RESULTING FROM RECENT WIDE SPREAD RAINFALL.
