Does anyone know if the 'Standard' 100 series (105, live axle) can accept 15" rims?

I have found somebody selling a set of 5, 5 stud 15x8 rims which supposedly fit. I guess when I get home I'll have a look at the clearance around the brakes but if anybody knows better I am interested.

Why would you want to got to 15" rims assuming you have 16" as standard?

Going from 6.5" splits to 8" sunraysias.

I don't really have any preference between 15" and 16", although I would have thought 15" would be of more benefit in low tyre pressure conditions as it will allow more flex in the tyre before punishing the bead.

I always had 16's until this latest truck which came with the 15" suns as you describe. Needless to say I have changed it back to 16" with 285/75/16 and the truck is transformed in it's ability to go places

Quite honestly the 15" rim, which was all the rage many years ago, was a bit of a con in my opinion and were introduced in an era when the tyres that fitted them had white lettered sides and looked pretty groovy. They only really work if you put big rubber on them to get the diameter back out to what you currently enjoy and then it's pretty unsuitable for town work really.

The most important point for offroad work I find is large diameter which will give you a longer foot print. for better grip.

The reason I am looking for the wider rims is to put something like a 33" mud terrain, or the equivalent in 16" sizing. I believe, having the split rims with the standard 235/85 tyres gives me around 31.5" overall diameter so going to 33" will be an improvement in that respect.

I didn't really think that the construction of the different tyre sizes would be that different, does anybody else have any comments on this?

I guess it comes down to whether the rims will fit over the brakes. They are going for a good price but.. they are worthless to me if they won't fit.

My final advice is simply don't do it and certainly not for $'s.

15" Suns are pretty cheap at best, approx $50 ea in the west, so it's hardly worth stuffing up a good truck for the sake of a few pennies.

They won't fit - won't clear the brakes.

Never seen a 15x8 with 5x150PCD.

I always had trouble with my Landcruiser diesels hunting or surging on 15" wheels.

Put the stock 16's back on and all was great. Only answer I could come up with was the slight change in gearing confused the beejesus out of the governor.

Hi all , I thought it would throw the speedo out also ,and if you went through the papers went to wreckers and most of all went to toyota dealerships I bet you will find rims as My mate that was always dealing with them found some for near nicks some almost brand new as the dealerships were happy to get rid of them .
