Try Eucalyptus oil Pete, it removes most things.

Yeah madfisher, spray the stain with hair spray, leave it to dry, then rub the stain off with a clean cloth. You can buy a small can of H S at Woollies.

Hello madfisher, maybe I can help!! I own a family operated cleaning business & now & then we have the need to spot clean all sorts of stains from carpet, grease, food & coke etc. Go to your local dry cleaning shop & see if you can cadge borrow or steal from him/her (got to be politically correct!!) a small amount of what is commonly called dry cleaning fluid. It is actually a product called Perchloroethylene We buy this product in a 15 litre container which for our commercial purpose last forever. It is normal procedure to at first try it on your fabric in an out of the way place just to ensure it does not have an adverse effect. Its a great product, but if you use it, (Carcinogenic) wear gloves, & if not in an open air situation, a respirator. I'am confident you will be happy with the result. best of luck

I am in the restoration cleaning industry and can back up what Barry is saying, basically a solvent will remove the ink, make sure its a straight solvent though.

Forget the off the shelf products from your supermarket, yeah some of them work but will damage your fabric in the process, with them you normally remove the stain only to be left with a different stain normally colour loss.

If it's a water-based ink as used in Inkjet Printers then Cloudy Ammonia will help - Coles have it in the household cleaning section.

"I discovered to day petrol on a rag will remove tar from car carpets and duco"

- Yep, commercial Tar & Bug Remover is just a mixture of Turps and Cloudy Ammonia !

what ever you try, try it out of sight first, so if the cleaner stuffs up your seat, you can try something else, before leaving a big mark where the ink is right in plain sight.

I used Big Kevs stuff a friend had to get Bic pen ink out of the GQ velour seats.

Plain old metho works well. If that doesn't work try the drycleaning fluid, or if you have some shelllite or white spirits its the same stuff. (they all run through my coleman lantern the same).
Good luck.
Paul.
