Hi All. Can anyone out there give me a estimate how long a 9kg gas bottle will last
using it for the fridge in the camper . Will be taking the Cobb,
Camp oven,
B-B-Q plate and a 2 Burner gas stove with own 9kg gas bottle,so will not be using
stove in camper much. Will be camped in one spot for 4 weeks. Got 2x40lt Engel's
using as freezers and relying on 3x75 watt panels for power. trying to get pack now but rain showers proving a nuisance.cheers Brian

How are ya old boy,,,haventseen you on here much lately...
how is the better half and the pooch doing? All fine i hope.
The 9kg we have will last about 8 days,,but that is cooking with the stove as
well.
I suppose thats why we carry a spare one...:)
At this time of year, being that is cooler so the fridge won't work as hard i think you should get close to two weeks out of one bottle.
meow.

Similar sized Electrolux fridges use about 200 grams of gas per day. So, a kilo every 5 days, x 9 kilos is 45 days.
The amount can vary -- with very low winter overnight temperatures, you can turn the thermostat on the fridge right down and hardly use any gas all night.
Of course, very hot daylight hours will require a high setting.

We travelled (van + Troopy) for 13 weeks last year and used 2 gas bottles the whole trip. Gas cooking on standard van stove most evenings + fridge every night (we mostly stayed on the oradside or in 'free' camping spots) with lighting from 2nd bettery in 4WD.
You might have some trouble with the 2 Engels (freezers) off solar - I assume you will run the fridges off a battery and recharge this from the solar panels.
Personally, I would take a small generator as backup .... those selling about $ 150 from Bunnings are adequate for a camping fridge.
