Followed a latest 70 series trayback Toyo, towing a fifth wheeler!, on our local freeway, it looked like a mouse being assaulted by an elephant...Lol.
Not critiscing but this rig did not look right, as from old school what dosen't look right'! it probably "aint right"
Axle.

probably much the same as if you knocked the high bulky cab off a prime mover then hooked it up to a B-double?
whats the story with tow ratings on a LC pulling a fifth wheeler as opposed to a standard braked setup that puts minimal (100 odd kg) on the tow bar?

Heard you're an expert on radio, Doug. What do you recommend? Can you summarise the pros and cons of the major brands?

Aandy
No not an expert , just someone who takes an interest , what I go by is what I hear, I do a lot of travelling as part of my job, I talk to every oncoming truck all day and each day I'm on the road, they answer me and as I have said I do my little test with them , they don't know ,not every driver i ask but sometimes i hear a radio that has absolutly shocking audio so I as .....is that a Uniden, they just answer my question with ...yeh mate, Had one bloke say a week back .. How the F### did ya know that....lol, I told him he sounded like he had a gob full of pubic hair....grunt....grunt... I wish he said, and I always get the same reply...Uniden , On the other hand all GME and Icoms have a very clear undistorted readable signal that you don't have to say ...aye what'd ya say.
I have blokes who maybe only use thiers a couple times a week trying to tell me it must be antenna or earth or some other problem causing the distortion , if it were only 1 or 2 a day then I would agree but when it's every uniden i hear on the highway I can't accept the BS , so if your question is a roundabout way saying what should I buy ,
well it's your dollars , you make the decision.
Doug

Er maybe Uniden is the market leader and there are lots more of em.
I have had an old UH11 for 14 years , and its Tx quality is excellent, and so is my Uniden handheld and so are any others I have heard.
Tx problems are more likely from antenna problems, and maybe linear boosters, antenna interference problems, vehicle system interference problems, antenna earths.
I have seen some atrocities re antennas , leads, and interference from vehicle systems in my 4WD club.
