But then again Aandy - don't forget to lock your car. The bush is tough and the city is mean and impersonal.
The other great thing about the bush is that real people are willing to help if you get in strife. In the city, you better be in the RACQ or dial 000 if something goes wrong - you'd be dead set lucky to find someone stop to help you.
I know the careless minority really give you a pain. Most of us do try - I have carried a second spare for 17 years and never used it, I have a bull bag that has rarely been used and a hand winch that once pulled a few shrubs out of my daughter's garden, but I still carry them.
On the other hand the day (many years ago) the plug on my transfer case disappeared, I am grateful to the RTA mechanic who happened to be in
Tibooburra and cobbled together a substitute for me, then came out to the
camp ground, flushed the box and refilled it for me. He was supposed to be half way home to
Broken Hill by the time he finished, and when I offered him $40 to buy a slab, he would only take $20. We called into the NP office to put the other $20 in the Flying Doctor box, and there was the $20 note I'd just given the RTA bloke!
You guys are generous and I do regret the careless but appreciate the opportunity to visit your corner of the world. My son & I just had a couple of weeks around
corner country and both came home feeling 1000% better for the experience.
Enjoy your trip to the coast
