I did a search on Hyclone , on this
forum and found some interesting reading,
I might retract that statement that a Hyclone may be beneficial.
Hyclone are about $180,, most
forum users dislike them,, maybe on the old engines, non turbo,,
I just thought it could have been a cheep alternative to get the turbo spinning earlier on the steep stuff.
I had our D22 back to Nissan a couple of occasions, to fix the " Turbo Lag ",
mine was shocking. Actually let it go till it got to 15,000 km, to let it run in a little ( brought brand spanking new Sep 2003. )
All I got from the head machanic was there is nothing wrong with it, but I will teach you to drive a turbo diesel. Brag, brag, crap crap crap !
So I let him take me out and he crapped on about this and that, and when we got back to the garage I told him I have driven Concrete Trucks , Tippers, and semi trailers, for a living, he went as white as a ghost.
I turned around and told them to get stuffed, as I did not like being bullshyted to.
Had it on a Dyno within a week and " presto " no more turbo lag !
Heaps more go, problem fixed..
Now the only other thing I have had done to it was to put a 2 1/2 " exhaust on it.
But some of the patrons on ExplorOz tell me that I could have made it 3" and took it right back to the turbo outlet flange, to get the maximum benefits, but I am happy with the difference that it made, as we left a bit of the engine pipe on it..
