Calibre gel cell 40 amp/hour power pack on special at $369 at SC.

I was thinking about something like this so I can leave the fridge and lighting behind and was wondering how good they were.

They have 2 x 12v plug in outlets, battery gauge and can be recharged off the car electrical system via a cig lighter plug in.

Anyone else using one or have something similar?

That's a lot of dosh for a 40Ah jobbie. Granted it is packaged nicely. But, do you need that. Going rate for a "naked" 40Ah gel cell is well under $200.00 and you can add you own sockets and put it in a box.
Cheers

I'm with hl, seems very pricey you could build your own with a larger gell cell, box, sockets and just about a small solar panel for the same $$

not everything at SC lives up to it's namesake......
my first visit I noticed 2 work lights on a stand for $120, saw the same thing at mitre 10 for $68...

Buy a decent 100+ ah AGM battery, put it into a $19 battery box and you will have saved some $$ and got a battery to be envied by others into the bargain.

I went there to look at batteries and battery boxes and these caught my eye as they have many other features such as a gauge,LED lit switches, magna pulse smart sensor(whatever that is)
As well as it comes in a solid black powder coated steel box with sturdy chrome handles.

I doubt anyone could build one as good for the price and I certainly dont have the time.
I also looked at the Waeco model which was $300 at Malz but not as good with less outlets and less power.

So is there anyone who has actually owned or used one?

Ross , yep they really do look good and yes again the powder coated box is the ducks guts , BUT the battery capacity is in the TOY range ,as others have said you can build up your own with 2 to 3 times the amp hr capacity for less $$$$$ using a better quality batt and plugs ect ect.
