Hi
I've read through the threads and noticed that reference was made to earlier models
I'm wondering how the 1997 non turbo bearing are especially as I have fitted an after market turbo .
Any oils better than others to help protect the bearing

Pre Sept 1992 1HDT engines (some) had bearing trouble.
N/A 1HZ had no problems.
Any 15w/40 CI rated engine oil will be fine.
Ensure you run an EGT guage with your turbo. Set your boost at around 8 - 9 lb and EGT's around 500 degrees and it will last as long as one not fitted with a turbo.
Hope this helps

There are two types I recommend.
You can get a good quality VDO one from repco or
if you want the best contact Thermoguard Instruments on this forum and he will sell you an LED one. I had one of Ians from Thermoguard fitted to my 80 series and it gives instant reading but they are a bit expensive. The VDO ones are good but a bit slower. Either way they are essential.

If it ain't blown up by now it wont , its not a Nissan, , the only bearing probs were pre oct 92 , and then only in one batch of bearings , if the vehicle had the "bad" bearings its either fixed by now or gone back to Nippon as scrap metal to make 3lt nissans to perpetuate the cycle.
