I put up with slack seat belts in the Hilux for six years and now it occurs to me they might be adjustable. Before I start destroying them to see if I can do it, does anyone know if its possible?

Thanks

You're not supposed to fiddle with em AFAIK, but there's something about doing them up on a web site somewhere ...try google international ...

bloody hell, I just logged on to ask this exact very question. amazing

I looked at mine and they said DO NOT TAMPER. Asked toyota the same thing and they said they were not servicable. Replacement only.

For my Prado, $400 fleet price each. $490 normally.

Hoping someone comes up with a safe alternative in this post that doesn't cost $800....

if they are not retracting properly or when pulled out stay out its usually a build up of oils etc from your skin and cloths.wipe the hole belt with a solvent including the top plastic peice above the shoulder.

In my case they were slack from brand new. Got used to them and never thought to argue about warranty then. I am sure belts are available for a lot less than Toyoto who mark their stuff up by 100%. Wreckers might be the way to go.

Wouldn't be wiping down a seatbelt with any type of solvent. The seatbelt webbing is made from synthetic materials which we all know doesn't react too kindly to having solvent applied to it. $400 seatbelt or $4000 face reconstruction lets have a think about this.

I believe it is illegal for wreckers to sell seatbelts.

NEVER buy a seat belt from a wrecker and put in your vehicle.
