Fellow Forumites......and PC gurus,
I have a weird problem with the above monitor that is driving me crazy:(
I have a Dell Inspiron laptop that I'm trying to connect to a Response VGA Touchscreen (aka Jaycar) for Moving Map (simple I would have thought but not in my case!). I have the Dell set to 800x600, plug in the monitor (VGA), boot up and monitor displays "Signal Out of Range". The manual clearly states that the monitor supports this resolution.
When I first got this monitor I could display the Dell's native resolution but now I can't get the monitor to even recognise this. With the monitor displaying "Signal Out of Range", I am also unable to access the monitor's menu to select any of the auto detect functions!
Maybe I'm just too tired to comprehend what should be something so simple to sort out:(((((((( I have ran out of ideas! Buggered monitor? Missed something??
Any help much appreciated.

Hi Craig, have a look at the refresh rate for your laptop, resolution is one thing but this message often refers to a refresh rate (Frequency) too high for the external monitor. You should be able to find a resolution with a lower rate, try this and see how it goes.
regards, db..

60hz should be low enough for it to work
try setting the resolution and refresh rate at the lowest possible say 800x600 @ 60hz. Most LCD's should run at this spec. Once you get it going, you can then work up to a higher resolution. Should be no need to change the refresh rate though. By design LCD's are flicker free so cranking the refresh rate takes the signal outside the range that it can handle.

Thanks for all the replies fellas, but I have an update!
Took the monitor and Lappy to Jaycar, plugged all in and no worky! Plug in second monitor and the same thing - no worky.
Changed res settings and laptop wouldn't hold the new settings (?). Unplug monitor, plug back in, change res back to 800x600, reboot and the bloody thing now works a treat. Laptop recognises the monitor at boot up so lappy LCD is blank like it should be. 7" monitor now all correct at 800x600.
So, did it all again just to make sure everything was still working and yup, all still works.
Don't know what I did but I don't care as long as it's all up and running - for now!
Cheers blokes, and thanks again.
ps: the refresh rate was 60Hz all along.

Ya wouldn't read about it! Got home last night, plugged in the lappy and screen and again she is KAPUT:(
Tried everything I could think of and then in utter frustration checked the refresh rate - again - it was set to default monitor. Changed to 60Hz and VOILA! everything works perfectly. So a big thank you guys for steering me in the right direction. And Voxson, thanks too for your input - every little bit helps.
Best regards,
