Just wonder if anyone has any experience with Rhino roof rack bags? I'm looking at either a rhino one or a custom made vinyl one both are about $300. Can anyone recommend any other brands? Also I'm trying to work out what size I want. Obviously the bigger it is the more stuff you can fit in but what if you don't always want to fill it up and when their not full the flap don't they? I'd appreciate any opinions.

I used a canvas one this trip and our things got really wet up there,,, it was like the canvas was ultra porous...
I seasoned it by waterproofing the stitching and submerging it in
water for a few days...
BUT STILL LEAKED LIKE A SIEVE... Very annoying..
I will buy a vinyl one next time..
There is nothing worse than wet bedding,,, i would rather drown my car in a
creek than have wet bedding,,, especially when Qld is having an ice age..
PS.. I take back the drowing bit...

I have a Michelle roof bag that has performed very
well. It's been subjected to Bull Dust, heavy rain and covered in mud. All the contents have remained completly dry.
From memory they are a little more expensive than most others, but
well worth while in the long run.
Prior to that, I had another
well known brand which was useless.

I have a michelle's sacs one and it is awesome, no dust or
water no matter what the weather. No affiliation or anything just a satisified customer(for once)

Mate has the 1500x1200 Bushranger heavy vinyl bag. Bought on special from Ray's outdoors at 27.5% off whatever that worked out to be. He is very happy with it as far as quality and ability to stay dry. Other mate has
Southern Cross canvas which leaks even after all the wetting in etc. and now purchased a Bushranger.
Cheers

Hi Manus
I have two roof rack bags, a michelle's sacs one, which is a small one and is great, the only thing it does not like is to have something under it that traps
water that can seep up into the bag, my other bag is a bushpack from Bushranger, this is the
orange one and it is a ripper. Both bags are good and have different uses, neither flap if not full, the bushranger one has the added corners under it for a ply sheet so if your rack does not have mesh this is a winner.
Have fun
Craig

I had a look at Bushranger bags but the seem very thin and the only ones that Opposite lock here in
Karratha have are the Rack Sac ones which I think are relatively new and have a cargo net that holds them down. From looking at the website the bush pak versions look better but the guys here seem to think their phasing them out. I might do some more research on them.

I had a small
southern cross and no probs.
I then bought a Freedom large bag and I have nothing but wet gear and holes in it. I went too big so it flaps around and this is what probably put holes in it. It also gets dust ingress as
well.
My next one will be the Rihno. \With the extra velcro strip to stop
water and dust looks good.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I ended up buying a Rhino bag. It seems
well made, the base is nice and thick and all the seems are sealed and it has thick straps attached to secure it to your rack. The
shop I brought it from doesn't normally stock the Rhino bags but they were very impressed with it. They thought it was very similar to the Michelles sacs bag but a lot cheaper. I'm looking forward to trying it out next weekend.
Cheers
