I'm getting put off by the
Simpson Desert being referred to as the Simmo or similar. Are the people who do it trying to infer that they are very familiar with it such as you would talk of going to the Gabba or the Gee? Doesn't impress me one bit especially when they then go on to ask questions that show they've never been there and have little idea of desert conditions. Show respect for it!

You need to get over it and not worry about such trivialities in life.

I'm off to Birdo in a few days. Will check out Biggo Reddo on the fringe of the Simmo. Have to mosey on up the track to Bedo, but the road to Wino is closed so I might have to go the long way round to Iso, and back through Longo.
Cheers

I was reading the Australian newspaper on Saturday and they ran a story on the front page on how expensive it is to live in
Roxby Downs with the huge demand for housing.
They said that Roxby is in the
Simpson desert, I will stand corrected but I think they are wrong?

It might not be in the
Simpson Desert but I am pretty sure it is on the edge of the Simmo. Specially if you are standing back there in Sydo or Melbs.

Hi A
Never been to the Gabba wherever that is (LOL) but I've been across the Simmo twice, and lived on the edge of it at Oodna for 2 years.

Your cover is blown Jiarna - lol - locals never call
Oodnadatta Oodna!! But of course just 2 years doesn't make you a local. Locals never call Wagga Wagga Wagga either. If you don't know where the Gabba is I doubt if you are even in Oz!!!

Hahahah you're right, they call it Oodnabloodydingowoopwoopdatta. That's when they use a name that can be printed LOL. BTW how do you know what the locals call
Oodnadatta? And where is the Gabba? Sounds like some sort of cricket ground to me, which explains why I haven't been there - I'd rather go
camping than watch grass grow (oops I mean watch cricket LOL).
Cheers
John

Weighed 2 stone when I got to Lybia but it didn't do me any harm.................

Geez, looks like I'm in the bleep e again. Who cares and let them get on with life.
One of the respondents to that thread said they had a friend who had an offspring who they thought was an idiot and it turned out that they had Dyslexia. I know that repondent fairly
well and it got me thinking. I used to think I was Dyslexic but now I know that I'm just an idiot. He would probably agree with my observations.

Thank you all for your replies. They have made very entertaining reading and I'm glad that I've stimulated a bit of intellectual activity and brought a little ray of light into what might have been an otherwise dull day.
Good luck to you all!
