I've just sold my old 2 door rangie and I'm now looking at buying a diesel 4 runner for my next toy, but I'm not sure on what model to get. do i stay with the solid axles or go with the IFS front both having there pros and cons. I have a friend with a 84 model and he reckons I'm better off with the solid all round as to get better flex, but I'm not sure any advice on this matter would be appreciated

Thanks
Andrew

I had a 94 2.8 model which we took everywhere, up the Cape(OTT), across the gulf,Tanami(x2),Oodnadatta(x2), Flinders ranges, GRR and so on.Never ever missed a beat.IFS is built strong in these vehicles,IMHO it is the strongest IFS front end around. You can gain about 40mm lift easy without effecting articulation(bump stops movement).
Dont expect a power ful machine, check on a good service history(every 5000kms).
Good luck
