Guys / Gals,
We have recently noticed a diesel smell in the car when we are driving along, it becomes more obvious when using the aircon.... Has just been serviced, but I cannot see any leaks, or spilt oil... any ideas ?

Long shot, but what was serviced? Maybe someone sat the old fuel filter on your air inlets and some leaked inside??!!

I also have a mint TD42 1991 model, very low klms!
It may be Airconditioner oil...I had an oily smell from the aircon last year and found the gas was also a bit low.(I thought it might have been diesel too.)
I pulled the fan/ evaporator box apart and found a leaky "o" ring due to a bit of corrosion on one of the gas lines. (It's always wet due to condensation- there was obvious airconditioner oil in the airbox)
I pulled the fitting apart, polished the surface with 600 grade sandpaper and fitted a new "o" ring and it's as good as new. Hasn't leaked a drop or any gas since...

thanks David - that sounds like a good tip. I'll be sure to
check it out.
PS . The previous owner never had the GQ off the road in it's first 11yrs (119,000km) ! Was used for towing a boat - mostly short trips to the local ramp...

Sounds like a good buy-
I have a mate who's after one about that age, but he has had no luck so far -all he's seen so far of that age are high mileage/ abused and in need of lots of work.

Check the archives on this and the patrol
forum. I remember, I think of a diff breather to close to the aircon inlet on the left??? mudgaurd ????
I could be wrong but it rings a bell.
Hope this will help
