Is anyone familiar with the purchase & fitting of rear view cameras for caravans? I'm interested in the cost, effectiveness & clarity. Maybe even suggested brands.

I have a Polaris and the clarity is great. I didn't get an infared camera and i now i wish i did. Cost for
mine was about $300 installed for one camera. I have the cable for the second camera, its just not connected.

Al Pal,
Check out this thread
Am getting
mine fitted both to car and van for $380 (at home) and that includes waterproof plug connector to join van camera to car monitor.
Several suggestions re fitting method of monitor , some prefer screws most go for velcrose /double sided tape, and I will probably go with the latter.

Thanks Pedro, I am always weary about drilling holes in the dash so the vecrose or tape sounds the way to go, would you mind telling me the brand of camera you intend to install?

Hi Al
Yes IR is important. Check with the suppliers and make sure the van unit is IR.
Regards
Derek.

I also have Polaris fitted to Prado & van.Infra red on both now after trying smaller camera on truck as advised by Polaris salesperson at caravan show.On Prado it is fitted above number plate ( but tow ball vision is not so good now) On full height van (since yesterday) it is fitted above rear window. On camper van it was on the centre back below the canvas wind up bit. Prado wired through back door and extra cable in back cubby hole to connect van via Wozza cable which then comes up on screen. Monitor clips onto passenger sun visa. Gps screen on dash & did not want another one there.
Cheers Mac

My unit is a Waeco, and the tape I am using is 3M Dual lock.
