Just read the article on portable fridges and noticed a comment on keeping the lid open using a gas strut. Anyone out there done this with a 40L Engel ? Can you give details and maybe pics.?

I forgot to include a question about connectors ! Tha article mentioned "Anderson Powerpole 30" plugs. Anyone know where they are available. Sponsor search did not come up with anything, neither did Google.

Good idea, but I just use a bit of cord. As the fridge slides out of the back, I can tie the bit of chord off that is tied to the inside top of the rear door to hold the lid open.

a gas strut would be great. Have had the lid come down on more than a few occasions. What was the article you were reading?

First nite out camping, we find a suitable stick to prop the lid open. This then becomes the 'Acme Patented Fridge Lid Special Tool' for the rest of the trip!!

You have got it wrong. The strut is for the fairer sex in the family. What they are looking for is always at the bottom, so they need two hands to find it. Us blokes, if it isn't beer, or at the top, we say who cares and do without, or just use what is on top and change the menu to suit. :o)
