Hi All,
I am considering the new Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with all the bells and whistles. I have read some really good reviews in magazines and car sites... but have not heard of any user reviews. Does anyone on here own one or know of someone who does? I am really interested in hearing about how the car is and does it live up to all the expectations. The fact it isnt a diesel does not concern me.

Frank,
if no luck here, try www.ausjeepoffroad.com
there are plenty of jeepsters in there who know their stuff.
(from what I've read, they, along with the new Hummer H3, are extremely capable off road)

Frank,
If it's on-road biased use, you may find the "Sport" version more appropriate.
You'll be paying extra money on the Rubicon for stuff that is definitely aimed at offroad capability e.g. electronic sway bar disconnects, better off-road tyres, front and rear locking diffs. For on road use, you'll trade that stuff off for better stereo, better highway tyres etc.

If you want it mainly for the road, it may dissappoint you......less than perfect ride, wind noise, lack of creature comforts.....but off road ( apart from no diesel ) well thats another story....

A friend did a review of them for one of the 4x4 mags. He said generally it is not bad expect for the lack of range, which he found a major issue when doing the review. He said a TDi one would be great, but Jeep has no plans (At the moment) of importing any.

It earnt the name "Rubicon" for a reason.

It is the only 4by to travel the entire Rubicon Trail unassisted. That is a big call on its own merit.

I was never a Jeep fan but I too am taking a closer look. They have been re-engineered on a small scale where it counts.

Thank you all... I do get out often since joining my local 4wd club but this car will be my daily driver, doing around 120km per day. The more I read about the car the more I want it. I rang most of the dealers in melb today and no one had an unlimited rubicon to test drive. I was also told that the wait for one would be 6 weeks.
