Hi all I have a 98 mod 100 ser T/D and I noticed today that when I jump on the brakes that it pulls to one side ,I have recently replaced the springs and shocks which are 2" lift tuff dog adjustable and RTC steering dampener and I don't know if that had anything to do with it and the only other thing is a full bearing and seal kit for the front CVs and wheel bearings I just remember the ABS use to kick in with a pulsating sort of feel before but not any more ??....HELP!!

Regards J.B .

Maybe some air in one of the brake lines?

Check and make sure that you havn't pulled a wire off or have a loose wheel sensor.

There is a brake adjuster above the rear axle, this made need to be adjusted to compensate for the lift. The brakeing effort on the front wheels may have been affected with the lift.

The Load sensing and Proportioning Valve (LSPV).
When the idiots put OME Suspension lift in my 79 Series they forgot this and it used to think there was no weight in the tray and hence put most of its brake effort it the front. It was all over the road until I threatened the supervisor of the installers till he came and checked the apprentices work. In the 79 when the rear is lifted it needs to be adjusted out to compensate for the increased height. Take it back to them and have them check it, it is thier problem if they havent compensated for it.

Well......a 100 series t/d doesnt have a lspv..its electronic .unless we are talking about a std 100 series with a turbo fitted...but i doubt it......you mentioned ABS, which most dont have.
What has changed??? new height, new steering damper, did u do any caster adjustment? who did the work?? ABS sensors are easily broken....if care is not taken...
So many questions.....

I think it must be a turbo'd Standard or GXL as the factory TD didnt come out until 2001. Probably the GXL to have ABS brakes though.

Johhnny is the ABS light illuminated on the dash after the vehicle starts to move? If it lights on start up and then goes out the ABS diagnostics have done their job....checked all the wheel speed sensors and they are ok.

If the ABS does not illuminate at all, then it it has either been diabled of the fuse is blown(can also still illuminate the light but will stay illuminated).

Check this first because if your ABS isnt working you could have large troubles.

After that you still need to check the condition of your brakes. Typically if the vehicle pulls to one side under brakes the OTHER side is defective and this has nearly infinate reasons.

Check there are no external leaks of fluid from calipers or wheel cylinders this can lubricate the brakes and reduce efficiency.

The discs can be glazed or pads worn out but the most common with a 4wd that has been driven offroad is the sliding calipers are now not sliding and you have reduced that caliper brake efficency by 50%!

I cant imagine that the 100 has an ALB to proportion for increased load, usually that the domain for utes but it may...still doesnt explain the pulling that would just reduce overall brake efficiency.

Sort the ABS issue or at least eliminate it then sort the brake issue and I believe you are prob just due for a reline, bleed and free up any calipers.

All the best

Matt.
