babs, I think Tom Tom ONE is just a dedicated door to door planner. Lots of PDAs will run Tom Tom software, but not the other way around.

So many people go and buy a GPS then look for some other mapping software to add to it only to find what you got is it , no more , period unless you want to run a laptop with OziExplorer or Raster , If you had done your homework first and checked out the Garmin units then you would have found that you can add Tracks4Australia mapping into the GPS which is more than adequate for most users

Hey Doug, thanks for the link, (dumb question coming up) Why cant one of those SD cards work in my Tom Tom, very stupid of me but I would have thought it was that simple.

Anyways the missus has already got her eye on this, so I can give it to her and buy a different one (not if I don't have to though)

(dumb question coming up) so will answer it, yes I know I'm being nasty,...lol
As you would have read in the GPSOZ page for Tracks4Australia that it states for Garmin only , yes you could put that software onto the SD card and into a TomTom but it won't work, you could put OziExplorer software onto the SD card too but it won't work , check out and have a browse in my special GPS and Map webpage , I'm sure you will find some helpful info there.

Guys I thought I could load maps onto the SD card the unit has the option to switch between maps, I just don't have any other maps. In the manual it tells me that I have options for loading different maps? I don't get it?????

Please explain!

Hello - Maps aint maps - there is a range of map formats, not all of which are compatible with all brands/models. Street navigation programs such as TOM TOM make their own TOM TOM format maps - you can not use their maps in any other software/gps unit and niether can you use any other type of "map" in their program/unit.

Extensive prior research is the key to getting the GPS/Mapping program/Maps that suit your requirements.

Cheers

If you load photo JPGs onto a card then anything that can display pictures will show them.

If you load music MP3s onto a card then anything that can play music will play them.

But that's only because standards for picture and sound formats have been agreed internationally.

But there is no agreed standard for map formats - so we all suffer and manufacturers screw customers by forcing them to buy their own maps.

Main thing to check is if the TomTom GPS is running its own software only or running in a Windows CE shell. If its using windows CE then Oziexplorer CE can be used.
