safe loading roof rack 80 series

i have an ARB steel full length rack on my 80 series,
heading over some rough roads soon, and need to carry 2nd spare on roof (heavy 285/75/16 tyre + steel rim).
just wondering if it is better to strap the spare towards the rear (stronger roof, between the middle and rear legs) or towards the front (where I'd prefer it, between the middle and front legs)???
highlift jack already bolted to rear side of rack, no other weight of significance up there...
I dont want to crack the roof through incorrect loading thats all ... so has anyone gotten away with spares up front all OK on rough roads??

Husky I always pack heavier items to the front of the rack to avoid overloading the rear of the car & to minimise any handling problems. Have had no issues with packing this way on my Troopy, 80 or 100 series. As for whats best for the rack & roof, putting the weight in the middle would share the load best.

Keep the weight between the axles. So that means keep the tyre forward on the roofrack. Haven't heard of any issues with roof stregth on the 80series. My recollection is that theres a limit of 200kgs, which is way too much anyway.

If you need it are you going to be able to get it down and the flat one up due to the weight??
