Thinking about buying one would love to hear some genuine feed back about their use and performance, good points and the bad.

Mate,

I have an email address and mobile number with my rigpic. There is another member here too Garth J in NSW who has one, plus others who are in contact by email. I am usually on EST time but currently on Central Time.

The group of owners are all looking to further innovation and are in in contact also with the company.

Amongst the group is one owner that is from the first 20, but also others October and November last year, but also others since.

TJVDM,

I'm part of the group who are on this site and have parted with the $ to buy what I believe is a fantastic concept with some real technical innovations.

As with everything it is a compromise and we all purchase what we believe is suitable for our use and needs.

To me this unit is a great "mothership" able to go wherever the 4by can go and give you some "basic conveniences" in a small package compared to full sized offroaders.

For me storage at home was an issue so it fits the bill there.
Towing....it fits the bill there. Not to wide and handles very well.
Ability to manhandle for moving.. again two people can manouvere. This is at home.

It is not luxurious as some other units but you can have what you really require and a modicom of home luxuries.

Ability to be able to free camp for long periods if you wish.

So far the positives far outweigh any negatives. In saying this things are still developing and improvements are being made and the design is being finessed.

These are ongoing and are improving, with the help of owners, this already great product.

Check the archives for some previous comments.

As Pete S and John R said there's a couple of us on here and I think if you wish to contact us you will get a pretty good appraisal of what we think so far.

Cheers
Garth

Good day gents,
I to have just picked my new Kimberley Karavan after owning my previous Kimberley Kamper for 6 years. In our old camper we covered a lot of miles with not one problem, these trips included Canning, Simpson (3times), Gunbarrel (3 times), Kimberleys, Pilbara, Bedal tracks, High country, Tasmania, Cape york (3 times). But the time has come for just a little more comfort, though we still want to go to the same type of places. We had out first shake down trip on the weekend with no major problems except the spare tyre on the rear of our 100 series hits the camper on a tight turn, so it looks like the tyre will be going on the roof rack when travelling in tight locations. We will be able to report more regarding the performance of Karavan in about 6 weeks when we return from Cape York (yes again) We leave for the Cape on Friday week and yes we will do the OTL both ways and Gunshot ? We did winch the car and camper through Gunshot on our last trip. This can be seen on the video we made with called "Fishing and 4 wheeling Cape York" available from Lifestyle Video Productions.
It has been a couple of years since I posted anything on this forum, though I will post a report on how the Kimberley Karavan performs on out return.

Happy Kamping
Big John

Hi Big John
Great new, another Kimberley Karavanner hits the road.
The Cape a trip will probably be our next major trip so I will be very interested in your trip report.

Just a note re your comments: "the spare tyre on the rear of our 100 series hits the camper on a tight turn, so it looks like the tyre will be going on the roof rack".

If you speak to Kimberley they have a draw bar extension that may save you mounting the spare elsewhere. This has been done by one member already and it looks very neat and I'm told handles better also.
I can email you some pics if you wish or you can send me a message and I will ring you.

Cheers
PeteS

G'day Big John, another not so little John here. Just in case you are interested Pete, Garth and I are all on each other's email systems and there are lots of ideas coming forward from them and others.

The KK is a great concept and we want to keep it so, and keep additional innovations going too. Continuous power connection to the top being a new one, from one of our contact mates, that is apparently going into the newest builds. I have just changed my wireless and antenna positions too, getting better reception than a caravan aught.

You are in Queensland, and there are a number of KK users there, if you wish to make contact. Three I know of, including Pete. There has been contact on EO before on KKs but the best info is from direct questioning of owners with a deep knowledge rather than the public forum here.

Hope you have many thousands of happy trips BJ.
