Well all I have a old Honda 1500 Watt Generator ,which I bought new in 1970,I know buy a new one. The old one works find but just to noisy to be near anyone,by myself long extension lead ,I have replaced the muffler a bit quieter, I believe you can run your exhaust through a sand box with a extension pipe drilled with holes & coved it with sand, has any one have any other ideas, or designs ,or suggestion

In the opal fields when I had to generate power for domestic power & lighting I had a 4kva ST1 Lister , and run the exhaust into a 44 gal drum sunk into the sandy ground with a pipe going out along the ground , and you could hardly hear it .
No reason why it would not work for a lttle petrol one like yours , try running the muffler into say a buried 20 litre drum with a pipe running out of it , and see what happens :)

Thanks for the replies .
As it is only a stand by on long trips I think I will charge Batteries by Truck motor if required ,I have 3 extra batteries = 360 Hours and a 80 watt solar panel ,the truck battery charges the other 3 when travelling
