I have a 2007 GU5 with a passenger side airbag. I want to run wires from the back of a centrally located Dept of Interior dash pod down through the passenger side windscreen demister vent hole and on down to the floor area on the passenger side. Can anyone explain the best way to do this. I have read that the glove box should be removed but am worried about the passenger side airbag.

Hi,
Have done exactly the same on my 06 GU4, however could not get the cable down the demist hole so went between the windscreen and dash (there is about an 8mm gap which will hide coax / cables etc nicley (Cannot tell it's there). Had to remove the A pillar cover & grab handle, kick panel & glovebox to gain access. There is a small blanked grommet on the firewall behind the glovebox which you can run the coax & power through. I chose to use a dual core 6mm power cable in a single heavy insulation (probably overkill) which made it neat and no need to run a separate earth. I then mounted an auxillary fusebox on the inside of the firewall near the aforementioned grommet which also feeds power to my fridge & 12V outlet for flouro light etc in the rear.
Had no issues with the airbag as it is way up high under the dash pad.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Matt

Meant to explain that the cables run horizontally along the gap between the screen & dash then drop down around the corner (where the A Pillar cover has given you access) and then to the floor area.

G'day, cover the cables with a dash mat, very neat way to finish off.

Cannot use a dashmat with a Pod, also no need as the cables tuck away out of site

Thanks for the info'. I have decided to put the cables between the windscreen and dash where they are well hidden. Managed to remove the glove box, etc with no problems.
