I'll bite, an Engel
Cheers Kev
Why because you can get a two zone later and make it a 60 litre

G'day Charlie
We went looking at both Engle and Waeco and then saw the Eva Kool
Have not purchased it yet as we do not need it yet but it looks to be the one for us

I've had both a engel and a waeco. The engel was pretty bulletproof,
well built (and therefore heavy), and performed
well. The waeco is fairly new but has performed
well so far and is alot lighter than the same size engel, but wouldnt stand up as
well to rough treatment in my opinion....time will tell. I brought the Waeco this time around as it was nearly $400 cheaper than the equivilent engel! I'm thinking that the waeco might be drawing less power to but that's hard to tell without testing them side by side under the same conditions (dont trust the specs!).
All in all I think they are both good products, but if money/weight is of no consideration then I'd probably go the Engel.

Gday
I prefer Waeco because they are heaps cheaper and the 60litre fits in the back of my 80 series and I can still fold down one of the rear seats, the engle the same size is not as tall therefore longer and wider.
Buy the fridge which size suits you and your vehicle.
Cheers

i've have a 50ltr eva kool fridge/freezer fridge side 30lts freezer 20lts can remove the divider tomake 50ltr freezer. travelled around Aus up north even in summer stills handles the heat the freezer can go down to -23 celcius even on a low setting. we leave a thermometer in it when travelling normally runs -18 in freezer 2-3 degrese in the fridge I live in the tropical north at Mackay can't fault it. Like most fridges it takes a couple of days of fiddling with the dial till your happy with the temperature settings great fridge recomend it to anyone also its made in Coloundra QLD.

One 30yr old Finch. Still going beautifully. Very rough treatment. No fancy, expensive bags needed either.

Hi Charlie, no doubt about it the Engel has been the best for many years and still is, you can't go wrong with an Engel.

We had 40 litre Bushman and 50 Litre Waeco for around Aussie last year both performed
well, if in real heat get Waeco modification 9 heavier fuse). Think Bushman has lowest power draw.

Colin
What do you mean by "modification 9 heavier fuse".
We own a new 80L Waeco and we are heading north in just under 5 weeks. So we will be in NT during November, SA in December. Obviously we want the best out of the Waeco during that heat.

The Eutectic fridges are without doubt the best. They use a compressor and eutectic fluid freezes in the walls. Once they are cold they stay cold for long periods (overnight) and there is no need for a second battery. The one drawback is the price - about double the normal fridge. One brand name for this type is the Auto Fridge I think. A friend has one and he is very happy with it.
