Hi all,

My 1999 NL Pajero GLX has some pretty small tyres on it at the moment, 235/75 R15's on what I am guessing are 15x6 inch alloy rims.

I am looking to get some larger tyres and am after some advice. So far I am considering 31x10.5 R15's on new steel 15x7 rims. At this stage I am just considering rim and tyre size (not brand) so any advice appreciated. Nowadays I am only using the paj for trips, a fair amount of sand, gravel and dirt tracks. I hardly use it at all for driving around the metro area/bitumen. Most likely I will go for an all terrain tyre, but i could be swayed for a more aggressive tread by the salesman!

Thanks in advance.

Will.

If your alloy rims are the standard ones, then they are 15 x 7. The Triton has the same ones.
I'm running 31x10.5R15's BFG ATKO ATM on the Triton and have done about 30 000k's and they are about 40% worn.

They are pretty good for what I use them for (gravel, dirt and sealed roads)

Cheers Kev

As Kev says, double check, if mags, may be 15x7.
But there were some factory specials done with 15x6 mags.
I have the 96 GLX, and it came with 15x6 steel and 235/75/15 - 29" OD.

Getting some after market 15x7 wouldn't be too hard for the paj, and 31x10.5 are a good tyre size, with plenty of options for tread and price.

You could most probably find some 15x7 genuine mags from the wreckers.
Have seen a few sets around when I have called in for the odd part.

You could even try some triton rims!
Sorry Kev, just had to say it :o)

Thanks for your advice Kev & Oldplodder,

The rims on it are 15x6 inch, just confirmed that. I am now thinking about going to 16x7 inch steel rims as there seems to be many more tyre options in that size. I am not sure whether these with tyres are going to be legal or otherwise as my paj doesnt have the wheel arch flares. Hey Oldplodder - are yours aftermaket flares I see? If so which ones?

Tyre wise I am looking at 265/75.R16's of a light truck construction. I've had coopers A/Ts before and was very happy with these. I might go for a more agressive tyre pattern though this time, similar to the Cooper ST...Any suggestions?

Will.
