My only comment is that you'll never look back! :-)
Both the 1kz-te and D4D diesels used in the Prado's seem to be very good.

Hi Brett,
I too had a petrol prado, 120 series/4lt and have swapped it over for a D4D. Best thing I have done for years. I
really liked my petrol prado and did 140k kms in it but the new one is far better in the bush and towing. Plus a lot more economical ( and I was happy with the petrol consumption).
The only problem is that I now have to say I am going to the servo to 'fuel' up rather than to get petrol!!
Go for it
Viv

Brett,
If you can afford the latest D4D, Go for it you will be impressed with the fuel consumption.
The best I have had so far was 8.5 litres per 100ks, which is better than Toyota claim.
Lot's of torque & with the 5 speed auto makes it the best tow vehicle I have had.
Cheers, Fazz.

I've got the D4D and just luv it. Towing a 1700 plus load with no probs.

I test drove a couple brands and found the Prado the quietest. They have the best sound proofing so the engine is just a bit of a hum - when the windows are up. You can hear it a bit more with the windows down - but still just a nice quiet deisel purr. Go and test drive one.
