I am currently running BFG 32x11.5.15 AT's. I run 31x10.5.15 on my camper. The plan has always been to match the camper tyres to the GQ. I have been offered some Mickey Thomson Muddies in 31x10.5.15 at a bargain price so i was just wondering if it's a backward step to downsize the tyre size on the GQ. Its a non turbo 4.2 so no rocket ship.

I rememeber the power of a 4.2 non turbo,,, but Stew,,, what a reliable ol girl..
The only downside to 31's over 32's is the smaller tyre wont fill the guard so much and it may look a little different because of your suspension lift.....
Other than that it will put kms on your speedo quicker....

The bonus is the feeling of a fraction more power and overtaking pull...
Better fuel economy,,, but some of that will be the speedo tricking you...

I would do it...If they were a BARGAIN...

I've still got the petrol sitting in the driveway..........just gotta get my act together and sell it. It sure is down on power to the petrol lol. Anyway it performed flawlessly at Warraweena.(What a fantastic place) And yes the muddies are a bargain so i may take the punt.

your car will run better on the MT's since htey are 31's..

is it a backward step - yes and no....
you will lose 1/2 inch clearance, but gain grip...

Hi Brew,

Warra was a great meet.... I have just ordered some Wrangler MTR 32x11.5.15 for my rig, and have 31x10.5.15 at present so am doing the opisite to you, Only reason I am doing it is to lift the rig a bit, down side will be power when towing, but i guess I can run the next gear down for longer so shouldn't be to much of a bug bear. I am paying $290 each for my tyres to if the Mickeys are a bargain I would grab them.

Hope to catch you around the traps again.. We will be back at Warra in Oct, doing a large loop around the Flinders Upper Nth.
