I have never seen so many flies in the bush in winter. Are they confused, or just getting smarter ?
You could cut em with a knife at Big Red.
Fly hats are regularly worn.
But it's winter, my beanie tells me so!

Kim, "carrying on like a
camp cook"....I like it and will borrow that one :)
I guess you're right. Had it not been for thinking my walking friend was an old aboriginal guy because of the net, I probably wouldnt have noticed the lil devils...much :)))

Just out of curiosity, who was your aboriginal friend? I've had a lot of drinks with an old fella up there on quite a few occasions. I'm damned if I can ever remember his name.
There's also a
young aboriginal who's great company to talk to.

Kim

Kim, on this occasion it was a white guy ...once the net was off.
I had met an old aboriginal guy there many years ago, he broke horses. When I enquired at the museum, they had a photo of him. Nice bloke but long gone.
They were able to identify him by the number of wives btw :))

darn Kiwis afraid of flies
I assume you arnt an aussie coz we find them a source of entertainment ,try these fascinatng games with them
- 10 in a row, try swatting 10 in a row withot a miss. If you miss the count gos back to 0
- Most in 1 swat, play against yourself or with mates
- Every finger on both hands, just the 1 finger pinky to thumb left hand to right. Once you have mastered it them maybe combine itwith the 10 in a row game
- Slowest swat, see how slow you can swat them and still effect a kill
Any other ideas? - always looking for new ways to amuse myself

i knew a bloke in primary school who used to stun them with a softer swat, then break off one of his long hairs and gently tie it too the fly so that when it came too, it would go to fly off and he had it on a leash.....actually quite amusing too watch
then he would do something else to them which i won't bother mentioning, got to do with pulling both ends of the hair...

March flies are good fun when it is too wet to go fishing.
A small piece of grass inserted in the nether region can absolutely wreck its aerodynamics and creates fun untold for the kiddies!!!!
