Relative newbie here.
I've got a Prado 120 and am looking at putting an air locker on the front or a Lokka if you can get it.
A Lokka seems to provide some significant cost advantages. But from what I've read it doesn't appear that you can get a front Lokka for the Prado.
So the option is to put a Lokka into the rear or an air locker in the front.
I have a couple of questions.
. Is an air locker better than a Lokka?
. Front vs rear - would you do first.
. Do you need to do any other mods to the drive train to accomodate the extra (?) stresses?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there!
I have (as many others) asked this question a while back. You may be interested to read this thread first.
Cheers

Howdy, I think you will find everyone has an opinion on lockers and preferences so I will be interested to read all the threads coming your way. I have a 60 series, yep backtraded due to fact I was tired of telling the kids to brush their feet before getting in and messing up the Patrol. I digress, I have ARB front and rear and they have made the truck capable of tackling most obstacles I have tried. I did not go for lokka and made my decision based on the simple ability to lock in when needed. The TJM was still new at the time and perhaps now worth looking at ? Of interest is that when ARB fitted the diff locks that I cannot lock in the front only so you can only use them as rear or front/rear combined. Has to be a reason and I have never asked, anyone know why? The only other mods to my truck are for clearance. I dont thrash it going offroad and this makes it look very easy I guess to someone following you. The other plus is the compressor under the bonnet for filling tyres, I added a storage
tank and hose for front and rear so all the better for adjusting tyre pressure

I was told the reason but can't remember what it was although I do remember thinking "sounds stupid to me".
To lock either front or rear at your choice all you need is a bridge between the two switches. I cant remember the terminal numbers but can have a look at the wiring diagram and find out if you want.

Hi Wayne,
All you need to do is
1, remove yellow wire from terminal 2 on your front locker switch
2, Install bridge between terminal 2 on rear locker switch and terminal 2 on front locker switch
Enjoy your new found freedom!
Cheers Jim

Wayne , thanks for the reply - looks like I have to do some digging although I didn't see the answers in my earlier research.

this was recently discussed on the lcool
forum. most people who had lockers were rear only. the 120 diff, for one reason being of smaller diameter than the rear, is considered to be not as robust and so more likely to fail or result in other things like cv breakage if you have one fitted and are tempted to push the boundaries because you "have a locker." The front drivelines are simply not as strong as a Patrol's for example.
but then i could be proven wrong....:)
