So.... I decided to review all my insurances... 4 vehicles, three rental props, 3 small farms, a
laundromat business..... Phew!!!! I'm paying out around $6,500 each year to lots of different providers...
I found 12 insurers, and faxed of details to them..... So far I have saved $2,590 by shopping around.
And..... the different levels of interest and service! Only five got back to me, and the cheapest has by far the best range of extras and coverage.

Royce,
I went through the same 2 months ago, after reaching one of those age milestones :-((
For me, RAA Insurance was way cheaper (discounts for +50, Silver
membership, Rating One, multiple policies etc) than AAMI and the insurance was better in some respects - included a free excess on windscreen. I suggested my kids do the same, and for them, AAMI was cheaper.

when I did the same I found some companies better for the cars but not the houses and vise versa so ended using two. Allianz for houses and GIO for cars
one thimg with gio is if you wait for the last day that your renewal is due they will ring you and offer a 10% discount to renew

Not sure what is cooking now, but I have GIO few years back – it was not my choice, but rather company policy to insure all leasing fleet via GIO. They good, even beautiful….. until something happens. We have rear collision accident (someone drove into our car). I call them and they toll me that I have to pay access fee for them to start moving and *IF* they recover cost from third party, they give me my money back, if they not – bad luck. What?!? Not my fault and yet I have to pay and hope they do their job properly?!? Phey! Cancel on
the spot and join this vehicle to another one with RACV. Stick to the same insurer pays – now I have rating 1 for life and does not matter what I quote around they could be dearer then cheapest quote for mere 20-40 bucks. Would I bother? No way! I would rather pay a bit extra and be SURE (is it all about inSURAnce?) that if something happened everything would be sorted out fuss-free. Saving pennies on cheap insurance only good as long as no accident happens. You got what you are paying for. Just my 2 cents based on personal experience.

even when you get your renewal, ring them as a new customer, is usually $100+ cheaper!!!
but theres cheap insurance and cheap insurance.. you wanna make sure there isnt 400 reams of fine print that basically says impossible to claim ;)
