Just wondering if anyone has one of the 70 series wagons? Particularly a GXL. I am not interested in hearing what people think about the shape, looks, interior, lack of creature comforts etc. UNLESS YOU ACTUALLY OWN ONE!!!! Would like to know about replacement / aux. fuel tanks and water tanks, as well as any honest thoughts on the vehicle overall.

wilko65,

Check out the latest 4wd Monthly #109 has full biased opinion of the 76 series GXL.

Cheers Kev

Agree with the bias Kev. No one seems to be saying what they really think in the mags with what is a pretty ordinary new vehicle release. Concidering it's supposed to replace the 105 RV & base models it doesn't even come close in comfort, features, space or ability. But then Toyota salesmen around here aren't being run off their feet as I'm yet to see a new wagon on the road & have only spotted one solitary tray in use, not what one would expect of a new model that's been out for almost 4 months.
Cheers Craig..........

I have seen a few around here, the Defence has started to use them already. I think that they are replacing the 100 series with them.
May be something to look for at the government auctions in about 12 months time.

Cheers Kev

It's interesting to see Toyota presenting this vehicle so late in its life. I owned a '95 1kz powered version about 5 years ago in NZ. Thought it was a brilliant vehicle. Came to Aust. and decided we'd like to own one but couldn't be found in WA at the time. Actually had a Toyota salesman tell me that they didnt need a thing like that on this island. Leaves me wondering a bit.

Kiwi,
I think Toyota still believes theres a big demand for a simple vehicle. The fact that they can get top dollar for it, and have a waiting list that is still a few months long, suggests they know what the market wants. Interesting that the mining market wants airbags and Toyota haven't got them - that may come back to bite them.

It looks very similar to the KZJ78 that you owned, but is quite different under the skin - chassis, suspension and all the mechanicals are different.

I ordered a 76series with diff locks at Easter expected it on the 30th May and I am still waiting to get it. Told by Toyota have to wait a bit longer because they are having problems getting the fuel pumps for the new V8 and they still have no idea when it will get here. I pity the people who have pre ordered the new 200 series V8 Diesel. They won't get theirs until next year the way things are going.

Thanks for the Rest Flying West and Flying Very Low along the track not coming back. The Crow

So has your new vehicle arrived yet?

I've test driven one of these and think that it's got an impressive motor, but seems to be an absolute time warp interior.

Not that I mind but by golly, it's got to be Australia's most expensive vehicle with no vinyl seats and airconditioning is an optional extra. Were in Australia would a/c not be required?
