As a new subscriber it still looks like to me that it is a "closed House" with many negative comments from old time contributors who seem to resent some new blood. Come on newbees stand up and be noticed. My impression is that this forum is supposed to be helpful and positive for all who have 4*4 and outback experiences at heart.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope you don't mind me quoting you here Graham as i agree with you.

I was a regular here years ago but i left due to the tall poppies shooting every one down every time they opened their mouth......tired & bored of it.

Sounds like things haven't changed.

Pity as there is some good info here.

How can you have tall poppies on a fairly anonymous internet forum?

Excuse me Richard. Exactly where have I given a newbie a hard time or any other behaviour alluded to by Kev or Graham. It seems its OK to make allegations but never, ever provide any evidence.

Richard,

Hahahaha Gerhardp1 has been on here longer than me, hardly a newbie. I see you have left out his contributions as well. Not surprising.

R Send,

Yep, it gets that way sometimes.

Sure you get a little of that, but theres a huge number of people in the Exploroz community, so you're bound to get all types. IMO the vast majority are very good people who post in a positive manner.

Kev

It's a bit sad to hear this sort of comment. Exploroz would be the most user friendly site I've come across, and provides an enormous amount of information, particularly to those who are new to 4WD driving and related matters.

Some times the threads get a bit off centre, but what the hell, its an outlet for a bit of fun and expression.

Kim

I am a new member all of one week and to date the majority of interaction has been positive , only one which could have been taken negatively and that was about spelling, oh well. Enjoy the forum

Graham, there are many hundreds of contributors to this site.
Yes, there are a few 'Turkeys', but a very, very small minority I suggest. Overwhelming majority of members and other contributors are very helpful and positive to new and old posters alike.
Just filter out and ignore the cr@p as far as possible and try not to take the occasional barb personally.

The old Golden Rule 'treat others as you would like to be treated yourself' is pretty appropriate and followed (even if subliminally) by most.
I generally try to practice what I preach, but (figuratively) biting ones tongue is occasionally a bit difficult. Guess that's just the nature of the medium.

Hi Kev

On any forums, amongst many helpful, friendly and good people, you will get the odd "know-it-all" who tries to show off or just attacks others, and readers just see his worst side. Ignore them. This is the best of all the forums i haunt for not only good information, but for good fun. Great people to meet on the forum, and even better when you get to meet them in person. The humour and writing skill in some of the threads takes a lot of beating. Top people, top forum.

Did anyone notice the thread topic?

Even so, Kev Cairns, it's a bit of an average topic to pick for a stir. As far as I could tell, his questions were answered in the replies.

Unfortunately we all have differing opinions on almost every topic, and i guess this is what makes the world go around and it would be a very boring place if we were all to have the same opinion. That being said, I thought that this site / forum was open to all people who love travel and enjoy this great country of ours ( not just 4x4 users). We are the lucky country after all. Some users do get on their high horses from time to time, but thats life. We small morsals just take it on the chin, forget about it and move on. If they get a kick out of their own behaviour, then good on 'em. Does it make them a better person for it? I think not. We all obviosly enjoy this site , or we wouldn't come back! Sometimes we all have to stop and smell the roses and think of others. We are all in this together.. My mother always used to say when i was a small boy,,,, If you can't say something nice , then don't say anything at all. We are all humans .. and Aussies.

Cant help but agree - ignoring the "tall popies" cliques sometimes takes some doing - the information gained from the silent majority is worth the pain though
