You can go everywhere.....
You wont have any hardship unless the heavens open up,, which is unlikely now..
Be careful of snakes in the campground at Kalpower,, they are everywhere...
The Frenchmans Track is an absolute must,, as all the other creek crossings are a little ordinary this year,,, especially this late..

G'day Voxon,

Heading up there soon myself and was wondering about your creek comments - are you saying that with all that rain so late into the dry season these creeks are already low?

BTW you mentioned Kalpower, did you get to Cape Melville?

Kind regards

Well,, the rain Qld just had did nothing to the creeks,,, well maybe the Coen River raised a bit one night when we were there..
Had about 2 inches one night and noticed a height difference there,,, a few creeks going into Chilli Beach got a little higher,, but that stuff goes down in a couple of days...
An inch or two is just a few spots up there..

Oh yeah,, Palm, Ducie, Dalhunty, Bertie, Gunshot, Cockatoo....
All these rivers if you navigate them right are very shallow..
Palm and Cockatoo have ins and outs which are a little slippy if wet....
Nolans Brook or Bridge Creek whichever you want to call it,,, that needs to be thought about a bit because the bottom is very boggy right in the centre of the middle....
Over to the left was the pick for us,, but that was Late May...

We went from Kalpower up to Princess Charlotte Bay and fished the Annie River..
Cape Melville wasnt somewhere we wanted to be this year...
But like i said,, Taipans everywhere,, you dont even see them when they are right in your campsite..

North of Coen (2kms) campgrounds on the Coen River,,, if you cross the river at the bottom you will have wicked camping,, normally on your own in the middle on the soft sand.. Great rock pools to bath in...

Almost a highway on the main strip. Bit rough either side of Musgrave as usual. Lots of work being done. Lots of sections you find yourself doing 95-100 km/hr smoother than bitumen and I'm not one for speeding on dirt.
Wasn't too dusty, hope that doesn't change a month down the track.
A few short sections of minor corrugations, so minor I can't remember where.
Maybe that's why I though around Musgrave was rough. Don't want to give the place a bad name.
