The R290 will only connect to the Globalstar network. Search previous posts for their lack of service !
Basically the service is RS.

Been there as to checking service providers , we dont exactly have much to choose from , good and bad service reports on All providers , after the phone reports not the providers hicup woes.

The Motorola 9505 is a good hand held one. There are also in vehicle phones relatively cheap on Ebay. All the service providers for these have a good rap, and have been around for a long time.

Satphones aren't like Mobile phone.

The R290 can only be used on the Globalstar Network, the Motorola 9505 can only be used on the Iridium Network.

The Globalstar network has major problems until new satellites are launched to replace thise that are failing.

Iridium has no such problems.
