Gday all,
any clues on squeezing more power out of the 3.9L petrol six fitted in the 1986 Cruisers.
I bought it just to tow a boat , but man it struggles.
It's great fun to drive around the Lerderderg Gorge on weekends, but I get about 2km's per litre when pulling the boat.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Steve

Hello Wyrss
Not a lot can be done cheaply other that extractors and decent exhaust which will help it a bit but won't improve the economy much. Assuming it's tuned and carby is not buggered. They are very reliable at least.
Cheers,

I have one and it goes a lot better now
A fella told me , from personal experience , he was a mechanic that owned one , that if I had the fuel jets bored out an extra 2 thousands of an inch it would help
he did it for me
goes like a train
same fuel economy , so long as you don't put your foot down further
apparently there was a kit for it back in the 80's
if it does not work you can always put some new fuel jets in and back to where you were
I find I don't have to peddle as hard now
